He frequently advises foreign residents and investors on Cyprus immigration and tax residency planning, including the 60-day rule and acquisition of non-dom status, and on structuring investments in the most tax-efficient manner. He frequently acts on behalf of individuals listed in Forbes, and regularly advises family offices on multijurisdictional investment matters, and structuring trusts holding assets worth several billions. Alexis has been recently successfully involved in the high-profile, multijurisdictional and widely publicised inheritance dispute concerning an estate valued at over US$4 billion, which included the largest sailing yacht in the world.
Corporate, Banking & Finance Transactions
Alexis regularly acts for borrowers, lenders, and financial institutions on high-value and complex corporate, banking and finance transactions, including acquisition finance, refinancing, restructurings, and sophisticated security structures. He also advises technology companies and startups on a broad range of corporate and commercial matters.
Alexis was involved in the takeover of Hellenic Bank (2nd largest bank in Cyprus in 2025) by Eurobank Ltd. His recent experience also includes acting for a multinational corporation on the largest debt restructuring ever completed in Cyprus, exceeding US$700 million, being the leading counsel for the lenders on the refinancing of a secured facility exceeding US$550 million for one of the world’s largest agricultural groups, advising a major international telecommunications group on the sale of its stake for €200 million, acting for the lenders on the refinancing of a US$600 million secured facility and advising a leading European group on a US$180 million tender offer and a US$400 million new note issuance. In late 2025, Alexis advised a US-listed company on Cyprus law aspects in relation to the €3 billion acquisition of a global platform.
Real Estate & Infrastructure Projects
Alexis is a trusted adviser to one of the largest international hospitality groups, having led real estate and finance transactions exceeding US$2 billion within the last 2 years.
His experience in the real estate sector includes advising on the acquisition and development of 5-star hotels in Cyprus, the construction of some of the largest real estate and infrastructure projects ever undertaken in Cyprus, including the largest master-planned residential golf and spa resort in Limassol, a major private medical clinic, a shopping mall. Alexis has also advised a listed company on high level complex legal aspects in relation to the Great Sea Interconnector Project (worth €2 billion). He also advises major international groups with a presence in Cyprus, including JD Sports and Kuehne + Nagel.
Publications & Academic Activity
Alexis has authored and co-authored numerous publications in the areas of trusts, probate and estate planning, corporate governance, securities regulation, banking, immigration and real estate. His work includes co-authoring the Cyprus Annual Report on Shareholding Disclosure and Short Selling, authoring the Pre-Insolvency Enforceability of Derivative Transactions under Cyprus Law, contributing Cyprus chapters to leading international guides and directories such as Reuters, LexisNexis, Chambers and Partners, Legal 500, Getting the Deal Through, LexologyIndex, ILO, and others. He has also lectured at the European University of Cyprus.
